Reflective Journal Week 10

 What did you learn from the unit?

This unit really made me reflect on my career development. I was able to determine the importance or unimportance for me to develop my career any further. I also got to learn more about the difficulty of staffing. 

Discuss your feelings/experiences from the team activities? Did it change your opinion on the subject? If so, how? If not, why?

From the team activities i got to learn about my team’s career development plans. One of the career development plans I am considering is becoming a CRNA. One of my teammates is seriously pursuing this career, and I got to learn from him more about what steps you need to take in order to become a CRNA. I was glad to see that there were others in my group that valued family and time with family over further advancing their career. Becoming a nurse is a huge achievement in and of itself. Even if I don’t further my career, I don’t think there is anything wrong with that. I was glad to see that others agreed. I also got to learn from my team about how different units manage scheduling. 

How you will utilize the information learned in your nursing practice.

I will utilize this in my nursing practice by being more understanding of the hard work that goes into scheduling and to make sure I do my best to support the schedule and help out when needed. I also might eventually apply what I learned from one of my teammates about the path to become a CRNA

Your personal feelings about the material covered.

I honestly got a little frustrated with this material about career development. I just don’t want to further develop my career, and it made me reflect about why, which further made me realize that I definitely don’y want to further my career.
